Overview of Linyi Library
Linyi Municipal Library is one of the ten “People’s Projects” during 2008-2009 period, which is awarded by the city government. It commenced constructing in May 2008, and opened to public for free at 30 May, 2011. It is located on Xinhua Rd, Linyi City, west of the People’s Square. The total area of the venue is 210 thousands square meters, the total investment sum is 120 million yuan. The library is a modern and proactive facility that provides a complex of services including newspaper reading, books lending and reading, technology and governmental information, cultural information resources sharing, multimedia digital reading, exhibitions and academic communications. It was awarded the title of national first-class library by the Ministry of Culture in the fifth National Public Library Evaluations and Ratings in 2013.
Linyi Municipal Library sticks to the literature collection building principle that bonds paper literature and electronic literature together for complement, and keeps on enriching the literature resources of the library, as a result of which enables the structure of the literature collections to improve over time. Currently the library has a collection of 700 thousand books, more than 66 thousand registered readers, more than 1000 available seats for the readers with a daily reception number of over 4000 people on average.
Linyi Municipal Library uses the library automated administration system called interlib, in order to manage books and periodicals in terms of interviewing, inspecting, cataloging, circulating and public retrieving, etc. The library has achieved automation and standardization of the management of its business procedures. The library has all areas of the venue covered with WIFI signals, and implements the most advanced Frequency Radio Identification (FRID) technology currently in the world, in order to facilitate book lending and returning services, which has not only greatly improved efficiency of the management of library literature, but also brings convenience to the readers.
